On a cold Friday night, the Clinton Red Devils took on the Hammond Skyhawks in the second match of the Capital City Cup. The first half ended scoreless in a tight defensive struggle. Clinton goalkeeper Colby Suber made several fantastic saves to keep the Skyhawks off the scoreboard. However, the Skyhawks broke the tie by sneaking in behind the Clinton defense to jump ahead 1-0 early in the second half. The lead did not last for long, as Red Devil midfielder Luke Mann blasted a swerving free kick past the Hammond keeper to tie the game at 1-1. As time passed, however, the Devils wore down and could not keep chasing the ball as Hammond passed it around. The Skyhawks scored two late goals to push the final score to 3-1.
