The Clinton Red Devils played their home opener against the Dixie Hornets on Wednesday night. The Devils came out fast, nearly scoring from the opening kick. Senior wing Zeke Case was the first on the board, taking a through ball from midfielder Jonathan Guevara and racing past the defense to slot it past the Dixie goalkeeper. Before Dixie could reorganize, sophomore center back William Watts struck again for the Devils, finding himself on the end of a perfect corner kick from Senior midfielder Bradley Frazier. After that, the game slowed down and became a defensive struggle. The Hornets threatened Clinton’s goal a few times but were never able to break through the Clinton defense. The Red Devils preserved a 2-0 shutout and moved to 4-1 on the season. Clinton returns to action Friday when they host the Mid-Carolina Rebels at 7:00 PM at Wilder Stadium.
