It was another successful night for both Lady Red Devil squads. The Clinton Girls faced the Newberry Bulldogs in two closely contested matches. The varsity matches seemed as if it would go the distance in a 0-0 tie until Emma Pinson scored off a keeper deflection with just over 5 minutes left in the game. It was Emma’s first goal of the season and first as a Varsity player. A couple minutes later Abby Collins scored the team’s second goal of the night off a corner kick from Reese Lawson. The Lady’s Devil defense was a brick wall and that helped Ella Cooper keep her net clean all night. I couldn’t be more prouder of these girls and how they fight and improve every game. This region win improves the varsity squad to 9-4(4-2) and locks them into no worse than 3rd in region and a playoff birth.
Tonight was an amazing night for the Lady Devil JV team. During the first half Newberry scored the first goal of the game, but the Clinton Devils were determined to keep fighting. In the last minutes of the first half Rachel Vondergeest scored a goal for the team. Once the second half started both teams were determined to put up a fight leading to both team finishing the half tied at 1-1. After overtime the newberry bulldogs and the Clinton Lady devils went into overtime. The Lady Devil won with PKs thanks to Torrie Messick, MC Dailey, and Lindsey Pysell making their pk shot and thanks to Lindsey Pysell for doing her job as keeper by blocking three shots from newberry. This puts the Jv team at 5-4-1 (4-1-1)
