varsity boys basketball, varsity girls basketball · Blackout Cancer Friday Night

Athletic Director Dr. Nickie Templeton released the following information for this week’s HOME basketball games with Laurens:
This is a big week for CHS Girls and Boys Basketball because it is Rivalry Week!!  The CHS Varsity Girls and Boys Basketball teams will host Laurens this Friday November 30th with the girls starting at 6, and boys following around 7:30.  The cost for admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students school age and older.  All District 56 faculty and staff will be admitted for free if they have their district ID with them.  Family and friends of district staff members must pay $5.  Senior citizen passes, SCHSL passes, and District 56 staff passes will all be accepted.  We will have two entrance doors open for Friday to help with the line to get into the gym.
Friday night will be a BLACKOUT!  The Laurens County Cancer Association will have representatives present at the game with an information/donation table in the gym lobby.  We will also be having a 50/50 raffle, and proceeds will go to the Laurens County Cancer Association.  This is an outstanding organization that assists cancer patients in Laurens County with costs involved with treatment, travel, food, etc…. Let’s pull together to help this organization reach their monetary goal and assist as many eligible patients as possible.
A big THANK YOU goes out to Nike and BSN for donating black uniforms to the Clinton basketball programs.  Our teams will be dressed to show their support for Blackout for Cancer on Friday night!
We have many cancer survivors in LCSD 55 & 56, and we would also like to honor each of them this Friday at halftime of the boys’ game.  Please come so that we can honor you for your courage and join you in celebrating your journey in beating cancer!
The night will go as follows:
1)  Pre-game and during both games- Information table and tickets sold for 50/50 raffle in gym lobby.
2)  Half-time of Girls Game: Minute to Win It– We will put one minute on the clock and cheer leaders will go into the crowd to get as many donations as possible.  Bring all of your pocket change!
3)  Half-time of Boys’Game- Cancer Survivor Recognition and 50/50 Drawing- Estimated time around 8:00.  All District 55 and 56 cancer survivors present at the game will be invited to the court during this time.
Come out and support our student-athletes, as well as the Laurens County Cancer Association.  GO BIG RED!
